Take charge of your booty call business

I was astounded recently at a sleepover at a friend’s house. One of the girls got a call from a guy she had been seeing. It was well past midnight, but she just upped and left. Just like that, to attend to the guy’s needs who wanted her at his place.

The sleepover wasn’t a priority for her anymore. She called a cab and was soon gone. The guy didn’t even have the decency to come and pick her. What a douche!

Two words flashed through my mind; booty call. For a minute or so, I was appalled by her rather indifferent attitude, but as I began to mull the situation over in my head I started seeing it in a different light.

Being somebody’s booty call sounds rather demeaning.

However, I believe you will all agree with me that it sure as hell beats multiple one-night stands with random strangers.

The problem with our society is that we have been conditioned into believing that men are the sole beneficiaries of sexual encounters. We have been made to believe that women are just instruments of pleasure.

Women need sexual satisfaction too. When you are unattached and suddenly feel all hot, a booty call will be most welcome. But exercise caution.

I would suggest hooking up with an ex. By doing so, you would be treading on familiar territory, hence very little chance of nasty surprises. Make it clear from the word go that the relationship is purely physical, nothing more.

The safest way to approach this booty call business as a woman is to let everything be on your terms.

Don’t be that desperate girl who gets a call at wee hours of the night and drops everything to attend to the whims of a guy.

It’s you to decide when to meet. Always decline (politely) a man’s attempt to set up a meeting.

Tell him you have prior engagement and that you would get back to him another time. Be the one to call the shots.

Sexual trysts should always be restricted to your place. Always! I cannot overemphasise this.

If you don’t have your own place, then you are probably not old enough to be engaging in pre-marital sex in the first place. You don’t want to be the one doing the walk of shame after a night of passion. Instead, be the one to send him packing after your needs have been met. Never let him sleep over.
